The Urban Farmers
We are an award-winning, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in the East Bay of San Francisco. Our goal is to build a community-based, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable model of hunger relief.
Harvests Are Suspended
Dear supporters, fruit donors, and volunteers:
Effective September 2021, due to the cost of insurance, The Urban Farmers has suspended all harvest operations.
At this time, securing insurance for such work far exceeds the value of the fruit we can harvest. However, there are other benefits to the work that we have done together, such as community development, reducing waste, and education/community engagement for students. We are working with a large, local institution that can provide the necessary infrastructure for our work. If the negotiation succeeds, we will be back in operation by early to mid-2022.
Fruit Donors: At this time, we are not aware of any organization that can come to your home to harvest your fruit. You can donate any fruit that you can harvest to your local hunger relief organization such as the Food Bank of White Poney Express.
